Boat Ride

Amazing perspective on divorce from the child’s perspective.  Art work reveals splitting time between parents.    This child is clutching a bear and looking down (at the reflection of her father?)  One would wonder; Is there significance to the dad portrayed on the bottom, under the boat?

Angry Parents!

A symbolic representation of DIVORCE!!!!!

The anger stands out the most!  Note the flailing arms and angry looks with the wide mouths and stabbing eyes, the beads swinging and the hair flying.  Red and green backgrounds are opposing colors on the color wheel showing how the parents are TOTAL opposites.  Clothes are opposing colors and note how one parent has a zig zag design while the other parent is wearing the opposite, a straight type belt and round beads.  Even the light fixture and couches are different for each side indicating the dissimilarity between the parents.

Each parent is sitting on a crucial baby item-a bottle and toy; perhaps squashing the significance of the child.  And, oh yes, there IS a child in the pic.  Sadly, the child is NOT the first thing one focuses on when looking at this pic.  The child is sitting quietly and engaging in an activity alone; however, the eyes are wide-eyed and piercing indicating a sense of ‘what am I to do.’

Being Pulled In Two

This is an excellent portrayal of divorce for some children.  Sadly, this represents the profound impact divorce can have on the child.

This drawing reveals several key points.  This child is being pulled in two directions by a VERY thick rope indicating they are being pulled by two strong forces (each parent) . Each door is a different color representing the two homes.  Both doors opens to a vast darkness indicating an aura of sadness and the (scary ?) unknown.  The feet are firmly planted on the floor by an external item indicating determination and efforts to stay where they are.  The facial expression, the mouth,  eyes closed and tears streaming down indicate intense emotions.  In summary, this pic is a heart wrenching representation of divorce.

Darkness of Divorce

This artist depicts the darkness of divorce. The child is split down the middle.  Note how the dad is looking at the mom, the mom is leaning away and looking forward.  Who is looking at the child? Red indicates the seriousness of the thoughts and questions of the child.

Torn Apart

This artist takes a unique approach in expressing concern about the high divorce rate and sends the message: “To all couples: think of your kids dreams and emotions before tearing them up by divorce!” Note: The facial expression of the girl conveys a message of concern for the child in the midst of divorce.   The way the picture is split up and torn from the center illuminates the artist’s message to parents perfectly.

When My Parents Split

An adult child of divorce shares “How I remember feeling when my parents split.  It honestly felt like the end of my world as I knew it. …..don’t marry and have children with someone you don’t get along with, for example. And when you do get divorced, think of your kids. Don’t tear them in half between you two.

Split Family

A sad depiction of divorce from the child’s perspective.  This dad is totally split from his family.  From one angle, this looks like the dad is walking toward his family.  If so, is this what the child is hoping will happen?

Separate Directions

An adults’ heart wrenching depiction of divorce from the child’s perspective.  Notice the parents moving in separate directions.  Note the trash bin with the heart, photo album and teddy bear.
